The past few weeks have been a roller coaster of emotion and a whirl wind of activity but through the conversations, the memories and the days of laughter and tears, two distinct and wonderful truths have come crystal clear in my mind.
1) God know how to give good gifts to his children.
2) Carol has joined a great crowd of spectators in heaven cheering her grandchildren on.
Carol was a gift to me. A very good gift to me. Over the recent days, a flood of understanding has swept over my heart revealing the height, and depth, the breadth and width of love, compassion and blessing this gift of Carol has been in my life. To recant the reasons would take a lifetime. I feel like I am one of the four luckiest people on earth to have married into the Vern and Carol family. God has given me a tremendously good gift! Carol has changed my life for good!
Carol's passion was her family. She was especially crazy about her fifteen grandchildren. She spent countless hours watching volleyball, basketball, hockey, soccer and ringette games, races at various tracks all over the country, drama productions, musical presentations, even if it meant she had to go to Africa to be with a few of her grands, she was there. And even though we may not see her face or hear her voice, she is still the family's biggest cheerleader. She would want us to live strong, to make good choices, be kind to all people and accomplish our dreams. She was very proud of her family, they were her dream come true.
I miss my dear sweet mom-in-law so much already. She will be with me like a handprint on my heart and no matter how my story ends, I know she has re-written mine my being my friend. I am truly blessed!
